Turn a magnet link or torrent into a direct link

A magnet link or a .torrent file can't be opened by a normal video player or download manager. A direct link can. It's a plain https:// address to the file, the same kind you'd get from any website. This page shows how to get one on an Android phone with Maru.

How it works

You give the magnet link or .torrent file to Maru. Maru downloads it on its own servers and keeps the file in your Maru cloud. From there you get a direct link to it. Your phone never joins the torrent swarm. It makes one HTTPS connection to Maru.

Steps

  1. Install Maru from Google Play and sign up with your email.
  2. Add the torrent. Any one of these works:
    • Copy the magnet link, open Maru, go to ADD and tap Paste.
    • Tap a magnet link anywhere on your phone and pick Maru.
    • Use Share from your browser or another app and pick Maru.
    • For a .torrent file, go to ADD and tap Upload .torrent file.
  3. Wait for it to finish. Popular torrents are usually ready at once. Others take a few minutes. You can follow it in MY LINKS, and the app tells you when it's done.
  4. Open it in MY LINKS, long-press the file you want and tap Get link. The direct link is now copied.
  5. Paste the link wherever you need it: VLC, MX Player, 1DM or your browser.

For a video, the same menu also has Open in external player, which sends the link straight to VLC or MX Player. For other files there is Open with, which can hand the link to a download manager.

What it costs

Adding a torrent is free. Points are used when you stream or download the file: 1 point = 1 GB. You do need some points in your account before you can add anything.

Points come in one-time packs through Google Play, UPI included: 250 GB for ₹99, 1 TB for ₹299, 10 TB for ₹2,499. No subscription, and points never expire. New accounts get 10 GB free until 26 Nov 2026.

The link is for you. Maru's terms don't allow sharing download links with other people.

Torrent to direct link, NZB too

The steps are the same whether you start with a magnet link or a .torrent file. Maru also takes .nzb files for Usenet, and links from 36 file hosts such as Mega and MediaFire.
